The July MBA Business of the Month is Veterinary Home Health Care
Veterinary Home Healthcare was born in 2011 and is owned and operated by Debbie Reynolds. She offers medical care for dogs and cats in the comfort of their homes in Martin and surrounding towns. Debbie provides a fear-free practice and takes pride in the personal touch provided to each patient. Debbie likes to have relationships with her patients and their families and seeks to provide the best medical care possible.
Debbie’s journey with Veterinary Home Healthcare and The Blessed Pet Shop started thanks to her daughter, Chesney. She left her associate DVM position in order to care for her daughters medical needs in 2008. During this time she worked as a part time relief veterinarian at various clinics and traveled around West Tennessee. She began to consider a house call veterinary business when some of her previous clients continued to ask for her help, although she had no home base. At their persistence and after making some home visits, she decided to start her business when Chesney went to kindergarten.
The Blessed Pet Shop was birthed when Chesney was unable to use traditional medicine to treat some conditions she was struggling with. Debbie began to study and use alternatives like holistic medicine on Chesney and herself. After this Debbie began thinking about her patients and how this might help them.
Soon after, she was certified in animal aromatherapy in May of 2015 and her patients benefited from the lack of harmful side effects, the ease of administration (petting), and the reasonable cost. Debbie attended the annual conference of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association where she was introduced to other holistic modalities. Debbie offers her patients the best and most natural care possible through Veterinary Home Healthcare and The Blessed Pet Shop which offers holistic foods, dehydrated raw foods, supplements, toys, trendy clothes, collars, herbal teas, essential oils, cakes, ice cream and more! The Blessed Pet Shop also has an online store at www.theblessedpetshop.com . They ship anywhere in the United States.
Debbie received help and support along the way through local resources like the Reed Center, the Northwest Tennessee Entrepreneur Center, other small business owners who were willing to share their knowledge, and especially her brother. Debbie looks forward to the future of helping pets and their families as her business continues to grow.
