During the summer institute, teachers from all disciplines will:
–share effective classroom strategies using writing across the curriculum,

–read and discuss current research in literacy practices in the classroom, and

–share new writing in small writing groups.

11:00am on HealthSouth Cane Creek Rehabilitation Hospital’s campus, be part of their annual “Stroke Walk” to celebrate stroke survivors and caregivers. The event will include a walk around the campus, followed by lunch and a discussion on the topic of “Recovering after a Stroke” led by Jeff Wilbert, PA-C. Updates about Cane Creek’s application for advanced certification by Joint Commission in Stroke Rehabilitation and therapy expansion project will also be provided. Take part in the American Cancer Society Cancer Prevention Study 3 in Martin.
HOW?
If you have never had cancer, and you are between the ages of 30 and 65 years of age, you can become a participant in the cancer prevention study (CPS3) which is being conducted in Martin, TN.
WHAT?
Go to http://www.cps3martin.org to schedule an appointment for either May 15 or 16, 2012 at the C.E. Weldon Library. You will be asked to fill out an on-line survey which will take about 30 minutes, and when you go the library, you will be asked to provide a blood sample, and they will also measure you around the waist.

Then, for the next 20 years or so, you will periodically receive an on-line survey to complete that will take about 10 minutes. If you are healthy, you are doing something right, and what you are doing, could help others. Please take the time to share your good health information for the benefit of others and for future generations.
